Enyimba coach, Paul Aigbogun said his side
fluffed their chances of progress in the CAF
Champions League when they lost 1-0 to
Egyptian giants, Zamalek in Aba.
The seven-time Nigerian champions beat
South African club Mamelodi Sundowns 3-1
on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, but still failed
to reach the semifinals of the competition as
they lost their first three games in the group
“I think we crashed out of the tournament
when we lost at home to Zamalek. There
were three teams in the group and it meant
we did not have enough time to recover.
“I don’t want to make excuses but then, not
playing in Aba too was a factor because
when you have your home fans cheering you
in matches, it makes a whole lot of
“We go away from home and see full stadia
but when we play in Port Harcourt, we play
in front of virtually an empty stadium, so
that makes a big difference.
“But like I said, I am not making excuses and
I want to congratulate Sundowns and
Zamalek for progressing to the semifinals,”
